Sports

Cross Country Skiing:
There are marked trails in Grant Grove as well as in
Cherry Gap (north of Grant Grove in Kings Canyon), Big Meadows (Generals Highway, between Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks) and Montecito-Sequoia (Sequoia National Forest between Kings Canyon and Sequoia parks).

Sledding & Snow Play:
In Sequoia, Wolverton is located 2 miles north of the General Sherman Tree. Ski and snowshoe rentals are available.

In Kings Canyon: Ski and snowshoe rentals are available in the Grant Grove Village. More sledding hills can be found at Big Stump, Columbine picnic areas or the Azalea campground.

Snowmobiles:
Not permitted in either park. They are allowed in the forest only on the 20 miles of marked routes at Big Meadows, located 8 miles south on Generals Highway in Sequoia National Forest.

Mountain Biking:
While in the parks, all bikes must be kept on roads. Anyone under 18 must wear a helmet. Ask a ranger which trails permit bicycles.

Off-Road Driving:
Not permitted in either park. Keep all wheels on the roads.

Picnics:
Most picnic sites have tables, restrooms, grills and drinking water. Picnic areas consist of the Grant Grove area, Stoney Creek Village, Sandy Cove at Hume Lake, Lodgepole, Cedar Grove area, Crescent Meadow in the Giant Forest and the Foothills area. Never leave food unattended.
